The latest figure compared with the value when the new government took office – and, for comparison, how the indicator moved over the same length of time before the change. This is a short period: the indicators are also strongly driven by the world economy, earlier decisions and seasonal effects, so changes cannot be attributed to the new government alone.

About this indicator

The chart shows how many forints one euro cost. A rising line means a weaker forint. Data are the Hungarian National Bank's official daily rates. Before 1999 you see the rate of the European Currency Unit (ECU), the euro's predecessor, which converted 1:1 into the euro.

The latest figure (27 Oct 2026) is 367.14 HUF, under the Magyar Péter government. The series goes back to 1990; the highest value was 432.94 HUF (13 Oct 2022) and the lowest 74.10 HUF (5 Jan 1990).
