How it works – 2026 rules

  • Personal income tax: 15%, social security contribution: 18.5% of gross pay. Without allowances, net pay is 66.5% of gross.
  • Mothers' income tax exemption (no cap, on earned income): mothers under 30 (born 1996 or later), mothers of four or more and of three, and in 2026 mothers of two under 40 (born 1986 or later).
  • Under-25s: no income tax up to 715,765 Ft a month, until the month they turn 25.
  • Family allowance (monthly tax-base reduction per child): 1 child 133,340 Ft, 2 children 266,660 Ft, 3 or more 440,000 Ft. If income tax isn't enough, 15% of the rest comes off the social security contribution.
  • First-marriage allowance: 33,335 Ft a month off the tax base (5,000 HUF of tax) for 24 months after the wedding.
  • Employers also pay 13% social contribution tax (szocho) on gross pay.

Allowances are applied in this order: mothers' exemption, under-25s, first marriage, family allowance. The calculator covers a single employment salary and assumes you claim the whole family allowance (it can be shared with a spouse). It ignores the disability allowance, fringe benefits and other income. Indicative only – your payroll determines the exact amount.

Changes announced for 2027 (such as a 9% effective income tax below the median wage) will be added once enacted. Tax rules timeline →
