Employer social contribution (szocho) rate
What has changed since the change of government?
The latest figure compared with the value when the new government took office – and, for comparison, how the indicator moved over the same length of time before the change. This is a short period: the indicators are also strongly driven by the world economy, earlier decisions and seasonal effects, so changes cannot be attributed to the new government alone.
About this indicator
The social contribution tax (szocho) replaced the previous employer contributions in 2012 at 27%. Following the 2016 wage agreement it was cut step by step: 22% in 2017, 19.5% in 2018, 17.5% from July 2019, 15.5% from July 2020 and 13% from 2022, when the 1.5% vocational training levy was also abolished.
The latest figure (27 Oct 2026) is 13.0%, under the Magyar Péter government. The series goes back to 2012; the highest value was 27.0% (1 Jan 2012) and the lowest 13.0% (1 Jan 2022).
