What has changed since the change of government?

House price index
395.0389.6
Q1 2026 → Q2 2026
−1.4%since the change of government

The latest figure compared with the value when the new government took office – and, for comparison, how the indicator moved over the same length of time before the change. This is a short period: the indicators are also strongly driven by the world economy, earlier decisions and seasonal effects, so changes cannot be attributed to the new government alone.

About this indicator

The house price index tracks the average price of new and existing dwellings. Hungarian house prices have nearly quadrupled since 2015, one of the largest increases in the European Union.

The latest figure (Q2 2026) is 389.6, under the Magyar Péter government. The series goes back to 2007; the highest value was 395.0 (Q1 2026) and the lowest 84.1 (Q4 2013).
